Open Source Project Terms
These terms apply when a seller lists a product on Lyrinox Market as an open source project.
Open source listings are welcome on Lyrinox Market, but they have to stay honest. Buyers should be able to see the source code, read the license, download the project for free, and understand exactly what Lyrinox Licensing does or does not control.
Open source listings must stay free
An open source listing must have a base price of $0.00.
Sellers may accept voluntary buyer contributions through pay-what-you-want checkout. Buyers must still be able to choose $0.00 for an open source listing.
Pay-what-you-want is only available for listings marked as open source.
Source code and license requirements
An open source listing must include:
- A public source code URL.
- A recognized open source license.
- A public license file URL that Lyrinox Market can fetch before publication.
- An accurate listing that matches the project license and current source availability.
The license file check is a publication guardrail, not a legal opinion. Sellers remain responsible for choosing the right license, following it, and having the rights needed to distribute the project.
Optional Lyrinox Licensing
Open source projects may opt into Lyrinox Licensing.
That can be useful for:
- download entitlement records;
- release update access;
- support workflows;
- hosted services attached to the project;
- abuse prevention for marketplace-hosted downloads;
- optional paid support or commercial add-ons listed separately.
Lyrinox Licensing may not be used to make the open source project itself exclusive to Lyrinox license holders. If the project is listed as open source, the open source license remains the permission source for using, studying, modifying, and redistributing the open source code according to that license.
No hidden proprietary switch
If a project becomes closed source, source-unavailable, proprietary, or materially different from the license shown on the listing, the seller must update the Lyrinox Market listing before continuing to distribute it through the marketplace.
Keeping an open source listing live after the project is no longer open source may result in delisting, removal, account restriction, or other marketplace action.
Seller certification
When a seller marks a product as open source, the seller certifies that:
- the source code URL is public and accurate;
- the selected license matches the license file;
- the product can be downloaded for free through Lyrinox Market;
- any Lyrinox Licensing integration does not override the open source license;
- the listing will be updated before the project becomes proprietary or source-unavailable.
