Use this field when the product is genuinely open source.

Open source listings are free by default on Lyrinox Market. Buyers can still choose to pay something at checkout, but they can also enter $0.00 and download the product without paying.

What Lyrinox Market requires

An open source listing needs:

  • A public source code URL.
  • A recognized open source license, such as MIT, Apache-2.0, GPL, BSD, MPL, ISC, or Unlicense.
  • A public license file URL that Lyrinox Market can fetch before publication.
  • Seller certification that the listing will be updated before the project becomes closed source or proprietary.
  • Agreement to the Open Source Project Terms.

That certification matters. Buyers should not see an open source listing for a product that quietly became proprietary somewhere else.

Why the license file is checked

Lyrinox Market fetches the license file to confirm that the declared license is reachable and appears to match the selected license.

This is not a legal review. It is a basic publishing guardrail so buyers and automated discovery tools are not relying only on unchecked seller text.

How pricing works

Open source projects use pay-what-you-want checkout.

The base listing price must be $0.00. Buyers can enter an optional contribution on the product page before adding the product to their cart. If they enter $0.00, the order is completed as a free order.

Pay-what-you-want is only available for open source listings.

Can open source projects use Lyrinox Licensing?

Yes. Open source projects can opt into Lyrinox Licensing.

That can help with download records, update access, support workflows, hosted service checks, and buyer account convenience.

It cannot be used to make the open source project itself exclusive to Lyrinox license holders. The project's open source license still controls the buyer's right to use, study, modify, and redistribute the open source code according to that license.

If you need a proprietary edition, paid support plan, hosted service, or commercial add-on, list that clearly instead of turning the open source listing into a hidden proprietary product.
