Default duration applies to a licensed product with one overall price.

Leave it blank when the license should not expire on a fixed date. Set a duration when the license should be time-limited.

Do not use duration to hide subscription behavior. If the buyer must keep paying for continued access, use subscription billing and explain that clearly.

Duration should match your support, update, and access promises.
